How many teachers are selected each year?
Each year 20 middle level and 20 high school level teachers are selected from all eligible applications received.

I teach Family and Consumer Science, Agriscience, or Food Science. May I apply?
Yes! We have always welcomed FCS teachers to apply for our professional development opportunity and each year many are selected to attend. In fact, this professional development opportunity has led to some great partnerships between FCS and science teachers since in fact the curriculum we use addresses both science and FCS standards. Our only requirement is that you be a US citizen and that you are certified to teach.
What criteria are used to select participants?
Applications are judged on a 100 point scale as follows:
Academic and professional experience: 40 points
Essay Questions: 45 points
Certification: Required
Letter of Recommendation: 15 points
Applications are judged by a panel of science teachers, not by FDA, USDA, or NSTA.
